Graduate Experience Mentoring (GEM) Program

GSG offers the Graduate Experience Mentor (GEM) program to enhance the educational, social, and personal health of our graduate student community. GEM was developed by graduate students in 2012 to acclimate incoming graduate students with the Mines community. Through participation in GEM, incoming graduate students are connected with current graduate students in similar academic disciplines, providing a knowledgeable resource for navigating the administrative, academic, and social aspects of the Mines community.

GSG’s GEM Program participants are invited to attend social events throughout the semester, and are provided coffee cards to encourage interaction between Mentors and Mentees. GSG also provides Academic Workshops to facilitate interaction within the graduate student community.

Current graduate students are welcome to volunteer as Mentors for the 2017-2018 Academic Year. Mentors will be connected with incoming graduate students in similar academic disciplines. Complete the GSG Mentor form if you are a current graduate student and would like to volunteer as a mentor.

Incoming graduate students are invited to join the GEM Program as Mentees for the 2017-2018 Academic Year. Mentees will be connected with current graduate students in similar academic disciplines. Complete the GSG Mentee form if you are an incoming graduate student and would like to participate as a Mentee.

Academic Workshops

GSG offers a variety of Academic Workshops throughout the semester to assist graduate students with their pursuit of advanced degrees.

If you have general comments or ideas for future Academic Workshops, please contact the GSG Academic Chair: Heather Lammers, hlammers@mines.edu.
